March 2025: the new economy
Each month, we break down our topic into four weekly modules. Catch up on previous editions here.β
This week's module: REFLECT
Estimated reading time: 3 minutes
Here's what we'll learn today Reader
I am BACK from vacation!
My vacation was a fantastic reminder of so many things:
- I'm so much wealthier than I give myself credit for. Maybe not in money, but in friendships, time luxury, nourishing/fresh/seasonal food. Maybe I'm even in the 1% of top wealthiest people, and grounding myself in that reminds me how much I can give my community!
β
- THIS PLANET IS THE FREAKING BEST!! Like sure fight climate change. But most importantly... protect what I LOVE SO MUCH???! yes please
β
- Rest. I used to be hella good at resting (which takes discipline) and I lost my rest discipline over the past 1.5 years. But I'm back now
All of this provides the perfect background for our REFLECT module on March's topic The New Economy. Below, I've included some poems (made by the Soapbox community last night) and an article worth reflecting on.
Let's get to it ππΎππΎππΎ

Your bite-sized action plan Reader
β
REFLECT by reporting your commitments and making collaborative poetry a part of your life
I've got an assortment of treats for you this REFLECT module. Huge shoutouts to Ben C. Lauren F. and Jaxie F. for helping assemble this treat menu! Below you'll find:
- 1 article
- 2 poems created at Soapbox Seattle last night
- 3 reflection questions
Also, if you took any actions to create an economy that works for people + our planet, please share them!β
One article
First, an article of a woman who is living the new economy: The Guardian's story of Jo Nemeth who closed her bank account and is thriving without money!
Two poems
Next, two "diamond poems" we wrote last night in Seattle, one on abundance and one on self-determination.
And guess what?
We wrote these TOGETHER... only being able to see the one line ahead of us!
It was like the poetry version of a trust fall mixed with improv mixed with pure magic. It was a microcosm of the new economy: gifts, reciprocity, and interdependence.

I learned about diamond poems from Ben Christensen, who happens to be the co-founder of a really cool tree-loving company called Cambium. Diamond poem instructions are attached to this email at the very bottom if you want to do this with friends!
Three reflection questions
- What is one activity that you did this month, without spending any money, that brought you joy?
- What was the last time you helped someone? What was the last time someone helped you?
- Do you boycott anything/any place? Why? (It doesnβt have to be a corporation. It can be something silly like using an umbrella)
If you want more reflection questions, they are attached at the very end of this email.
Finally, did you do any of the actions outlined in our ACT module or make another change this month towards the new economy that works for people + planet?
Let me know below!
Sharing wins is one of the most important ways to keep our momentum up, and I love knowing what ripple effects this Changeletter might be having because then I don't feel like I'm shouting into the void lol.
That's it for today! If you want more reflection questions + diamond poem instructions, download them below. Huuuugeee shoutouts to Ben, Lauren, and Jaxie for everything you're seeing in today's Changeletter!
Love,
Nivi
