Well, you clicked it, so now we're in a pickle.

The good thing is, there's still time for you to delete this email.

Why do you want me to delete this email, Nivi?

Glad you asked.

It's because I care about you, and I know your inbox is stuffed to the brim with end-of-year nonsense. I'm all about that zero-waste lifestyle, and I want you to get the satisfaction of DELETING an email. So fun!

Oh hey.

You're still here.

Practicing your distress tolerance? That's good too, actually. In a warming world, we need to practice being uncomfortable as we keep each other safe.

Here's a meme as a reward.

Want a fun fact as a reward, too? In 2025, Soapbox Project logged over 7,600 hours of community-led climate action!

We also had 1,800 attendances across 102 events that took place in 4 cities. We amplified 60% speakers, artists, and musicians, and 57% were from BIPOC communities. Wahoo!

We need joyful community spaces where we can gather consistently to take meaningful action that connects us to each other and the planet we love.

If you agree, here are the things you can put on your end-of-year list:

  • Donate $101 to Soapbox Project and get! it! MATCHED!
  • Seriously, GET IT MATCHED. What does that mean? If you work for a company, go investigate their policy on donation matching. For example, the Gates Foundation matches donations 3x, so if you work for the Gates Foundation, you can pool donations with all your friends. $2,500 would turn into $10,000 after the match! If this doesn't apply to you, reach out to a friend who works at a tech company!
  • At your next friends/family dinner, talk about what's important to you. Protecting our winters so you can keep skiing? Ensuring girls in your home country have access to education? Talk about what you care about, and how YOU are helping. That's the best way to inspire the ones around you to care.
  • Be a good villager. Someone you know had a baby? Cook for them, even though DoorDash is easier. A friend is grieving and you don't know what to say? Reach out anyway.
  • Commit to consistency. You want to know the best thing I've ever done for myself? Sending these Changeletters WEEKLY since November 2019. I do it for you, a little bit, but I do it mostly to feed my hope. Figure out a consistent habit that works for you. Just in time for new years resolutions! That could be reading Changeletter every week, it could be taking a moment before every meal to think of the farmers involved, it could be going on a walk every day... there are so many possibilities!

Most of all, know that it matters that you're here, trying your best. It's not always easy to be a human in a warming world, where we're under attack just for existing.

But it matters that we're trying our best together.

Thanks for reading this email even though you could have whooshed it into the void.

And as always, feel free to reply with your thoughts, hopes, dreams, wishes, feedback, or compliments (compliments count as donations btw).

With so much love and gratitude,

Nivi

P.S. if you're STILL here, I made you a 1-minute video thanking you. And also showing you my garden with a flower that is BLOOMING IN DECEMBER!

May you go forth, protecting your whimsy and joy with everything you've got.

And if you're STILL here... send our donation link to your lawyer/doctor/dentist/VC relative.
