Here's what we'll learn today Reader
Election Day in the United States was a fantastic data point that people power is alive and well.
Yes, things are dire. But there will always be fighters, and by choosing to read this today, you are one of them.
So thank you!
With that, HAPPY NIVEMBER!! It's my birthday in three days, so if you've ever been like hey, maybe I should support this person so she can get a massage, her fingers must be so tired from typing all these emails, you can make a donation to Soapbox. Better yet, you can pester your friend who works at a company that matches donations and route it through them to 2x your gift.
Nivember is also the beginning of peak eating season with celebrations from pretty much every culture taking center stage, so this month, we're talking about regenerative agriculture.
Currently, we've built an agriculture system that takes more than it gives. Can we flip it and reverse it? How?
Come on a journey this month and find out.
We'll begin with our CONNECT module today where you'll have the chance to ponder some themes of the month, then LEARN next week about some facts + figures + stories, then ACT by... taking action lol, then REFLECT with a poem on regeneration.
Yay wahoo let's get started!
It's my birthday! Wanna give a gift?
Hey! I'm turning 30 this month, whoooaaa. Wanna make a donation that starts in the number 3?
$3? $30? $300? $3000? And make it monthly?
100% of this work is me sitting behind my keyboard stressing about if anyone cares about this stuff, so encouragement and financial support is so greatly appreciated!
Thank you for being here and following along ❤️

✅ CONNECT with these conversation prompts about regenerative agriculture and the future of food
Every CONNECT module, you’ll get up to four prompts to connect with yourself, others, spirit, and systems.
Your mission is to take what’s in these Changeletters and bring it into one of those dimensions.
Before we get into it, here's a brief definition of regenerative agriculture:
Regenerative agriculture asks us to think about
how all aspects of agriculture are connected through a web—a network of entities who grow, enhance, exchange, distribute, and consume goods and services—instead of a linear supply chain. There’s no strict rule book, but the holistic principles behind the dynamic system of regenerative agriculture are meant to restore soil and ecosystem health, address inequity, and leave our land, waters, and climate in better shape for future generations. (
NRDC)
Another term to be aware of is agroecology, which is a direct response to the harms of industrial agriculture.
Now, for conversation starters! Remember to talk about these so they don't die dead in your inbox or else that will be very sad.
- What are your cultural, personal, and familial relationships with food? Think about the traditions, socioeconomics, health, and other factors that influence the way you think about your own food choices.
- What questions and challenges come up when you think about the food system? Do sustainable choices feel heavier than other choices you make in your life?
- How does agriculture go beyond food? Think about the things you wear or have around you. Do you know where the materials came from? How can we reimagine this? When we think about agriculture, we generally think about the things we eat. What else do we grow, though?
- What does "regenerative" mean to you? As the NRDC blurb says above, there's no rulebook. Also, this term doesn't just apply to agriculture. What are the people, places, habits, etc. that feel regenerative to you?
My answer: hanging out with my friends and cooking a meal together feels regenerative. Even though it takes time, money, and energy, I feel like I have way more of all of those three factors afterwards, even though I'm pretty sure physics doesn't work like that. I think of regenerative as something that puts me into a state of abundance I didn't have before. What about you?
Those are your four questions for today! I hope you have some fruitful discussions with humans in your life. As always, report back with anything you'd like to share.
Team earth forever,
Nivi
